The Original LA Flower Market welcomed Aniska Creations, a group of floral students from Miami, for a local farm tour, a flower market tour, and a hands-on floral workshop,
Here's how it came together.
A Market Tour and Workshop at Mellano LA Design Space
On Saturday, July 25, the group spent the morning at The Original LA Flower Market in Downtown LA in the LA Flower District. We started with a guided tour of the flower market floor, sharing its history and helping the group shop for fresh flowers straight from the source. Then we took them behind the scenes at the Mellano LA cooler and distribution center to see how flowers are stored, kept cold, and prepped before they go out to florists.
From there, the group moved into the Mellano LA Design Space for a hands-on workshop.
The Design Space
Where the Designing HaAfter shopping and touring, the group moved into the Mellano LA Design Space, a rentable space right inside the market, for a hands-on floral workshop. It's one of the things that makes The Original LA Flower Market more than a place to buy flowers: florists and designers can teach, design, and create just steps from where they shop, without hauling stems across the city.
The space includes large work tables, a water filling station, restroom access, and climate-controlled cooler space to keep flowers fresh. Optional labor and driver services can be arranged in advance for an additional fee.
WHO CAN BOOK?
There are two ways to experience it, depending on what you're after.
Guided market tours - open to everyone. Anyone can book a guided tour of the market, no floral background required. It's a great fit for:

Groups visiting from out of town who want the full field-to-table experience.
The Mellano LA Design Space, by reservation. Mellano LA rentable design space is booked separately and is ideal for:
Floral designers and studios looking for a dedicated space to teach and design, steps from the market.
Floral Schools, Floral student groups, and educators planning a hands-on field trip or workshop.
Please note the following:
Renter must be a registered flower shop or an ESTABLISHED flower designer
Renter must provide a certificate of insurance prior to the start of the rental period.
Renter must purchase 80% of the flowers from your sales rep at Mellano & Company
