Your First Time at the LA Flower Market?
Everything you need to know before your visit
There's a difference between picking up flowers and actually choosing them.
Most people grab a bouquet on their way somewhere quick, easy, already wrapped. But if you've landed here, you're probably not most people. Maybe you're planning a dinner party and want something that actually feels like you. Maybe you're a DIY bride sourcing your own wedding flowers. Maybe you've driven past the Flower District a hundred times and finally want to walk in.
Whatever brought you here, this is your guide.
We're covering everything: how to get here, where to park, what to bring, what it actually feels like inside, and how to walk out with flowers that last. Whether it's your very first visit to the Original Los Angeles Flower Market or you've been coming for years, consider this your go-to resource.
First, a Little Context: What Makes This Place Different
This isn't a flower shop. It's not a pop-up. And it's definitely not a grocery store floral section.
The Original LA Flower Market has been here for over 100 years - right in the heart of downtown LA's Flower District. Inside, you'll find 35+ family-owned vendors and 55,000 square feet of the freshest flowers in Los Angeles, all under one roof.
The growers and vendors here aren't just selling flowers. Many of them have been in the business for generations. They know every stem by name, they'll tell you exactly when something was cut, and they'll help you put together an arrangement even if you've never touched a flower in your life.
It's also where professional florists, event designers, and stylists come to source, so when you shop here, you're getting access to the same quality and variety that goes into LA's biggest events, restaurants, and editorial shoots.
And yes - it's open to the public.
You don't need a wholesale license, a business card, or an appointment. Just show up.
What It Actually Feels Like Inside
Here's the part no blog usually tells you.
When you first walk in, it hits you all at once…
the color, the fragrance, the sheer scale of it.
Rows and rows of buckets overflowing with fresh-cut stems.
Vendors calling out what just came in.
Families walking through together, picking out something for the table
A florist loading up a cart with hundreds of stems for a weekend wedding.
It can feel a little overwhelming the first time, and that's okay. Take it slow. Walk the aisles. Let yourself get pulled toward whatever catches your eye. And don't be shy about asking questions, the vendors here love what they do, and most of them will happily walk you through what's in season, what pairs well together, and how to care for what you take home.
It's not just a market, it's a community. And once you visit, you'll feel it.
